A wonderful cruise day in Kinderdijk, Netherlands. So many things to do and see in this lovely place. You will want to come back and take a cruise time and time again.
The signature place that you can’t miss seeing are the Windmills. It would not be Kinderdijk without the Windmills, it’s the pride and heritage of the place and the world. Do not forget the camera because you will be taking tons of beautiful snap shots. You can walk around at your own pace or go on a virtual tour. After about an hour or two of walking and enjoying the Windmills, I would suggest a nice lunch at the Grand Cafe Buena Vista that is highly rated by all. Nice place to fuel up with some burgers and chips. If vegetarian they have great choices as well.
Shopping in Kinderdijk
Next thing on the list would be a little shopping. It is non-commercial so don’t expect a shopping mall and that is the beauty of this place. You can’t go home without some wooden shoes and they have sizes for everyone. Every shop has unique gifts to take back with you. The only problem you’ll have is where to fit it going back on your cruise.
You can rent a bike to view the countryside if in the summer or in the winter you can ice skate beside the windmills. You may be hungry after the day so you can stop in to another local eatery called Partycentrum de Klok. They offer a nice continental dinner with a homey environment.
Lots of things to do in a day time but the joy of this place is not to rush but to breath in the beauty and stillness of the culture and place that is stuck in a wonderful time period.
